Vivāha Saṃskāra
The Sacrament of Marriage
Marriage in the Vedic tradition is not a contract but a saṃskāra — one of the sixteen sacraments that consecrates a soul's journey. It is regarded as a lifelong spiritual union of two individuals, witnessed by Agni (the sacred fire), the elders, and the divine itself. The ceremony unfolds in distinct stages, each carrying deep symbolism and prayer.
